LYCKEBY KEEP is used to encapsulate and protect lipid and fat-soluble components during spray drying.

Spray-drying is a method used to convert lipid- and fat-soluble components into solid powders that are easier to handle and provide better protection. During this process, water is evaporated to create a fine powder. Since lipids and fats are prone to oxidation, microencapsulation is employed to apply a protective coating around them. LYCKEBY KEEP is homogenized with the oil or fat to create the protective coating.

A unique feature of LYCKEBY KEEP, in comparison to other encapsulating agents, is its ability to form very stable oil-in-water emulsions. The small particle size of the emulsion enhances encapsulation yield and retention during spray-drying. The product line includes formulations with very low viscosity, allowing for the preparation of emulsions with higher solid content. Higher solids in the emulsions lead to a quicker spray-drying process and reduced water evaporation.
