Continued strong growth for Lyckeby

All companies within the Swedish Starch Producers cooperative – Lyckeby, Culinar, Kockens and sister companies outside Sweden – show growth with good profitability.

Swedish Starch Producers Cooperative have, during the financial year of Sep 2016 to August 2017, achieved a turnover of 1 561 million SEK (approx. 159 million Euro). Compared to the previous year, this is a growth with approx. 15 percentages. The group result before appreciations is 119 million SEK (approx. 12 million Euro), 11 percentages improvement from last year.

Some important steps in the company strategy toward more specialized and value adding products have been made during the year. The co-owned sales company Solam is now fully owned by Lyckeby which will increase possibilities to develop business with the paper industry. A new distribution agreement with Ingredion is signed that will offer opportunities in new geographical markets for modified starches to the food sector.

Culinar has gained market share for blended products to customers in the food sector in Scandinavia.

We are proud to support a growing acreage for starch potato. Last year's potato campaign added another 500 hectares to the cultivation. Although the wet and cold growing conditions posted tough challenges for farming, we collected starch potato equaling 72 000 tons of potato starch.

The Lyckeby group is optimistic about the future prospects and determined to continue growth plans with additional production capacity and investments in development.
